show ip ospf
Display global OSPF information.
Syntax: show ip ospf
Description: Displays summary information regarding the global OSPF configuration.
Factory Default: None.
Command Mode: Executive and privileged.
Example: The following is sample output of the show ip ospf command:
router#show ip ospf
OSPF is running, process id: 1, router id: 198.0.8.2
Number of areas: 2, normal: 1, stub: 1
Maximum paths per route: 4
SPF schedule delay 0.0 secs, Hold time between two SPFs 7.0 secs
Area: 0.0.0.0
Number of interfaces in this area is 5
Type of authentication none
SPF algorithm has run 5 times
Area: 0.0.0.1
Stub area
Number of interfaces in this area is 0
Type of authentication none
SPF algorithm has run 2 times
The following table describes the fields shown in the show ip ospf command:
Table 2-1. Fields Displayed by show ip ospf Field Description process id
The identifier of the OSPF process as defined by the router ospf command.
router id
The unique identifier for the router as defined by the ospf router-id command or the address of the loopback interface with the highest IP address.
Number of areas
The number of areas defined with the network area command. A network running OSPF must contain at least 1 area.
normal
The number of areas that are not configured as stub areas.
stub
The number of areas that are defined as stub areas with the area stub command.
Maximum Paths per router
Specifies the maximum number of parallel paths configured for this router.
SPF Schedule Delay
Specifies the amount of time in seconds to wait before running an SPF after receiving a database change.
Hold time
Specifies the amount of time in seconds to wait between consecutive SPF runs.
area
Summarized the information pertaining to that area.
number of interfaces in this area is
The number of interfaces in the area.
type of authentication
The type of authentication used.
SPF algorithm has run X times
The number of times the shortest path first (SPF) algorithm has run.
SPF interval
The frequency at which the SPF algorithm runs on this system.
